  • Is it realistically possible to get a hamster and all the food, bedding, housing and toys it needs for 100$?

Yes, if you can find a cheap cage. The cage is the most expensive thing. You may be able to find a used one at a garage sale or thrift store. Be sure to wash it very well. Or, wait for a pet store to have a big sale or go out of business. My hamster's favorite toy was toilet paper rolls. Ask a family with lots of kids to save you their toilet paper and paper towel rolls. Feed your hamster nuts, crackers, and vegetables that you'll eat too: http://www.hamsterific.com/HamsterUniver鈥?/a>

That way, you're not food shopping just for your hamster. Is it realistically possible to get a hamster and all the food, bedding, housing and toys it needs for 100$?
you can make all this stuff yourself.

    if you work with wood, save up all the shavings from router work or planing. only use pine though, cedar will probably give it ';allergies';

buy some small gauge chicken wiring form the feed store.

make the toys yourself, be creative. how hard is it to make a running wheel?

remember you can always make things yourself, dont be afraid to use your hands. Is it realistically possible to get a hamster and all the food, bedding, housing and toys it needs for 100$?
Cage should run you $35-$40 at most.

Food comes in a box for $2-4

    Hamster cost--depends on species.

    Exercise wheel $10

Food bowls--you can use any you find at rummage sales

    Water bottle $4

I'd say you should be able to do it for around $50 at most, you can even find discount supplies everywhere and make do with stuff off of Freecycle.com or Craig's List.
You must be joking. The whole cost where I live for the hamster, the cage, the food... everything, is around 80 - 90 dollars. Yes, you can get a hamster for under 100 dollars.
Yup, we had mice (which require more or less the same things as a hamster) cost us about 50 bucks, for a cage, bedding, water and food bowls wheel, treats a ball and toys
    yes

Does anyone know of any 4 bed houses for rent anywhere in scotland that will accept housing benefit?

I feel like we are the only one's struggling like this. My family and I live in a rented three bed house.

We rent because we lived out of the country for a long time, we have two young children and at the moment we can't raise enough capital for a deposit on a house. We run two cars, we do a weekly shop, we have Sky TV, we don't go out much. Once we have paid all our monthly bills, we have nothing left and the whole cycle starts again the next month. Are other people struggling?I feel like we are the only one's struggling like this. My family and I live in a rented three bed house.
We are struggling too. i don't run a car or have a tv. we haven't had a holiday for years. all of our clothes are from charity shops or cast offs from friends. i don't have a social life and haven't been out in the evening for a couple of years. sometimes we run out of food and i don't eat so that the kids can. i dn't drink or smoke. every single day is a real struggle.I feel like we are the only one's struggling like this. My family and I live in a rented three bed house.
Sounds like you are doing better than the majority of people in the world.

I am stuggling too but I don't have sky and I don't run 2 cars. Find other sources of entertainment. Eg. WH Smith do a 10 quid a month deal where you get DVD's sent to you at home as quickly as you send the last one back. Maybe lose the sky and get something like that - have a family night in with popcorn etc. Do you really need 2 cars? I know you have kids, but what about a liftshare (google it there is a liftshare website) to sort out getting to work. Or even keep both cars but use it anyway to save fuel. As long as your debts are going down then you have a light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes, I'm sorry to say that most of us live month to month, and will never be able to do much better,

For all those do gooders, who commented on:

    why have 2 cars

    why have sky t.v

my answer is this: sometimes you have to have 2 cars, whilst your husband works and is using one, how do you do your weekly shop (supermarkets are usually situated on the outskirts) and how do you run your kids to after school activities - get a bus??? Most buses cost more that running a car! (where we come from anyway)

Yeah, I know about the planet and cutting back on emisions etc, but be practical!!

I'm with you on this one, sky t.v is not a necessity like some said, but hey if you can't afford to go out much you have to have some entertainment right?

Lets hope one of us wins the lottery soon! Yeah, I ';waste'; money on the lottery but I also may win too!! Good luck from the rest of us struggling to exist.
Frankly, other people are struggling a lot more than you.

At least at the end of the month you have a balance of 拢0- which is better than having a debt that grows every month which you'll never escape from.

You don't *need* Sky, you don't *need* a second car. How much petrol do you use? You can afford to eat- do you always buy the cheapest brands? Do you smoke? You don't go out ';much'; but you do go out, how much does that cost?
hi, i have to sympathsise with you. i have to rent a house as i do not earn enough to be able to get a mortgage.

i have a 6 year old daughter and pay for childcare, my rent, run a car etc. we only just have enough money coming in to cover our outgoings (we don't waste money or have many luxuries) - and i can't see it ever getting any better if i stay on my own - even if i managed to get a full time job paying 拢30k a year i would be no better off than i am now with more tax and NI to pay, losing my tax credits and having more childcare and traveling expenses to pay out for!

i work hard and love helping others but feel like doing things 'right' doesn't get you anywhere in life!
Yep most people and things just getting worse - my partner works I have 15 month old and thanks to kind relatives work part time with no child care cost but we still have no money left for nices after pay bills/mortgage. And things are getting worse I'm afraid I work in the mortgage industry and we are slowing down to a practical halt with no one lending and ridiculas fees and having a knock on affect everywhere.

Plus food, electric, gas,PETROL all increased this year, I hope things improve but just see it getting worse.
    hi

i sympathise with you. Alot of people are struggling at the moment, with debts they cannot pay, stuggling to get through till next payday.

I have debts of 拢22.000 that i have no hope of paying in this lifetime. I dont have a car as its unaffordable. I shop at the cheapest foodstores and yet my money does not go far.

Maybe you should consider getting rid of one of the cars? would public transport be cheaper? I dont really know how to help, but all I can say is it looks like it will get worse.
well try to reduce the number of cars if you can. It helps the planet as well!

You don't need Sky T.V. get rid of it! Freeview has many channels and it's... free!

Try and cut down on food shopping. Buy from markets.

    Anyway to get another job?

Look at houses in other areas - perhaps there will be cheaper prices (not London!)

Don't worry, a three bedroom house isn't bad going when you only have two kids!

    xxxx
Everyone struggles. But you need to look at necessity vs. need. Do you really need two cars can you guys manage with one? How much are you spending on weekly food can you start using generic. All the little things do add up and can help free up your money. I have never heard of sky t.v. but if its cable get rid of it and either start reading more or try and rent movies for free at your local library. Just remember necessity vs. want. Oh and try and downsize on the rental that would help I'm sure too.
Yup. I live in a 3 bed house and I have to share a bedroom with my sister. My parents will never be able to buy a house. We only have 1 car but walk most of the time to save petrol for emergencies. We don't have sky, but do have digital. We get buy because all we need is love

    Good luck

    xxx
Yes - time's are tough now. For lots of people.

Can you get by on one car? Although most of the money goes when you buy rather than running - but it's cheaper to use public transport if not much fun. And Sky is a luxury - there's free-to-view digital soon, and Freesat as well - fewer channels but if you need to economise. Try shopping less frequently but buy in bulk from wholesalers.

Have a look at this site:

He has lots of little tips that can help a bit.

My roof's in dire need of repair but the insurance company will only pay 拢500 for recent damage in high wind, and it's about 拢8k for a new roof, so I just have to leave it, which is a worry. I can't afford to get it fixed. You're not alone!
yes and rose is right about the cars. we are struggling too. up to 15 months ago I had a job. losing it cut our income in two. however I still need a car to look for work and if I find it, to go to work. All our savings went to pay for our son 1st year at university. We have cable TV because it is part of our rent.
you call running two cars struggling, get rid of them to start with (use the bus) get rid off sky its all repeats anyhow ,start buying your shopping from cheaper stores. if you want to know what struggling is try working and bringing up 4 children on less than 15k a year ..2 cars-----luxury
you live in a 3 bedroom Rented house, you have two young children whose future you have to look out for, youve lived abroard for a Long time, you run two cars, you have SKY T.V and you ask why ??--DUMB??

    come to your senses!!
You call THAT struggling? When my dad left my mom had to pay for the house, buy all the food and look after 4 kids while trying to hold down a job and we never even had one car and you call that struggling?

    I call it pathetic
The economy is in stagflation..slow economy with rising inflation. It is not easy out there now. Renting maybe better now than owning with the falling home prices. If I had more info , maybe I could advise you better...Hang in there !
Do you need to run 2 cars? Everyone is struggling at the moment, you've just got to try and cut down on the things you don't really need.
You are not alone. Visit ...

... for help, advice and - if necessary - a shoulder to lean on.
Try and cut on the sky and try with 1 car. Thats all my advice.
    Yes
Yes!! It is just me and my partner, we live in a 1 bed flat and i can only work part time because of illness. You are not alone in your struggles.

EDIT - People say ';do you need two cars';, these are probably people that drive around in gas guzzling Land Rovers, if you have two small cars, then whats the problem? As for sky tv, it is not a necessity, but cancelling the contract would probably incur a fee equal to 2 monthly payments, why not just continue the contract and get your use out of it!! We only have 1 car and i walk to work, my mum takes me to my hospital appointments and my overdraft pays for our grocery shopping, but thats how it is at the minute.

    Keep your head up! :)
oh my god you call that struggling? god, i know im gonna get loads of thumbs down but i dont give a ****

you dont need sky at all, my wife died three years ago (God bless her soul) and my children and I struggled for years. i have four children (three girls and a boy) and we manage to survive. I didn't have sky, but it costs 拢50 a month, imagine what you could do with that. i used to walk everywhere, or take a bus, until i got a job outside of the city, when i NEEDED a car.

shop at aldi, or a cheap shop. why do you need a three bedroom house for two young children? share a room

    god you fail at life
Well, you have the answer-lots pf people struggling!

There are interesting comparisons to draw. In the 50s there were not the consumer choices to buy, so people gotr by with less as a matter of course

Last week(?) a report came out proposing certain levels of provision that were a minimum for comfort. Sky (or equivalent was one, smoking, not. http://www.jrf.org.uk/pressroom/releases鈥?/a>

    is the link
I can see your problems and am myself in the same position with 5 daughters to raise and a private rental, Husband works but its never enough. We only have a 5 seater car so everyone walks everywhere, the car is only used to go to work as its 30 miles for the hubby each way.

i think all you can do is nip in the belt for while and i mean really tightly, i am starting work full time and all my children are under 9 so life will be interesting, lol. I do think its a bad situation when i cant be with and provide for my children at the same time. But its children that matter, try explaining to them the situation and make sure they understand, this helps you in many ways least of all the I WANT syndrome.

I think the situation is only going to get worse so the quicker you can start to do it the better.

I would also suggest if school is under a mile each way fresh air is good. mine have been known to walk 4 miles to see a friend, if you can distract them they dont get so bored and it gives you more quality time. Although you might end up with lots of pebbles/leaves/pinecones or the other latest collectable
    some good answers here.

definately check out moneysavingexpert.com as they have some great suggestions from using ecoballs when washing (拢30 but last for over 300 washes), to swapping utility providers and comparison websites for everything you want to buy.

look at the food inyour trolley - are you buying lots of processed food and ready meals? try to find cheaper alternatives - you can do amazing meals with mince or pasta relatively cheaply. look for special offers such as bogof.

I really do think you can manage without SKy tv, and do you have a mobile phone contract that you can manage without? My husband goes to a working mans club to watch the football rather than paying a monthly subscription to SKytv., and you can hire DVDs cheap from the library.

check that you are getting all the benefits, tax credits etc that you are entitlted to , and maybe change your job to something closed to home so you dont need two cars?

sit down and make a budget and try to stick to it........and in answer to your question........yes we are all struggling!!!

What are the average bill costs a month for a single person in a 2/3 bed house in the UK?

I know you can't give exact costs because you don't know how I live etc.. just want to know other people's costs to get a bit of an idea.

I want to know the normal bill costs (Gas, Elec, Water, TV, any other bills that are essential) for one person living in a 2/3 bed house in Mid Glamorgan, Wales.

I would watch quite a bit of TV, and use a computer a lot but not much else to take up electricity apart from the obvious like lighting. I'd prob use the washing machine once a week and wouldn't be using a tumble dryer. I'll rarely cook.

I'll be strict with heating and only put it on when its absolutely freazing. I'll be using a shower, rarely running baths, don't know if that makes a diff with the water costs.

ThanksWhat are the average bill costs a month for a single person in a 2/3 bed house in the UK?
In my experience there won't be a massive difference in costs between one person and two, as long as you both have the same lifestyle. Still the same lights, tv electricity, heating etc. Maybe a small difference in washing machine running costs only.

Two of us share a 3-bed house (previously a 2-bed flat) and are out at work all day, no kids etc. Our monthly essential bills are approx (based on annual averages):

Council tax - 拢100 per month (if over 12 mths but 25% reduction for single person)

    Electricity - 拢20 per month

Gas - 拢20 per month (mimimal heating plus hot water %26amp; cooking)

Water - 拢16 a month (based on estimated usage I think)

    TV license - 拢11 a month

As phone and sky tv etc are not essential I haven't included.

In total then about 拢140, as you are own your own, I'd imagine it will be more like 拢120 - 拢130.

Seems loads when you aren't splitting it!What are the average bill costs a month for a single person in a 2/3 bed house in the UK?
If your on a meter with water then it will but otherwise i spend around 拢70 a month on heat, light and water. I pay minimum water rates 拢6.69 a month and have prob 2 baths a day!!! I'm clean!! I use the washer everyday am permanantly on the xbox with the stereo on and cook everynight also i use the dryer if the weather is naff so hope that helps???
    i'm in a 3 bed house with 2 kids

    gas - 40 a month

    leccy - 21 a month

    water 40 a month

    tv licence - 12 a month

virgin media xl tv and m broadband - 31.50 a month

How many bedrooms am i entitled to with 6 people living in a 2 bed house at the mo?

me and my partner, have three children my sister and a dog which equals 6 people and a dog of course, ! we are cramped in a tiny 2 bedroom box house.

i feel like im living in a shoe,! as my 2 daughters share the smallest room at the moment, there is no room for a chest of draws or a wardrobe with the two bed's so not only have i got my sister living in my living room but i have six peoples clothes in my room, i cant move i cant even get to my own wardrobe,! i suffer with depression and this is not doing me any good !.

so im just wondering what to do as im so unhappy with our living conditions we have been waiting on the council list for eight months now.

i have called environmental health out, but this was before my sister had moved in, now things are a lot worse, does any one know what i can do ? please please help me !

kind regards mandaHow many bedrooms am i entitled to with 6 people living in a 2 bed house at the mo?
I see you are in the UK, from the language used. Okay, here goes.

There should be no children over 10 years old sharing a room with a child of the opposite sex. Only couples should be sharing rooms, or people of the same sex, or children under 10.

The 2 girls can share a room with your sister.

All rooms, except the kitchen, can be considered suitable for sleeping in.

    The dog does not count.

You cannot ';deliberately'; overcrowd your house. You may be committing an offence if you do, and the council is not obliged to rehouse you. How did your sister end up living there?

If you are the tenant, rather than your sister, and you get rehoused, the council is not obliged to consider her needs, and not obliged to give her the tenancy to the house you are leaving.

There is tremendous strain on public housing stock right now. Everyone else considers their own need to be as important to them as yours is to you.

Have you and your partner considered working harder, increasing your combined income, and buying a bigger house? How many bedrooms am i entitled to with 6 people living in a 2 bed house at the mo?
Get rid of your sister and the dog for a start. It may be difficult, but you need to start to take more responsibility for your life and not rely on everyone else for what you regard as ';entitlement';. Try to find a job and save for a bigger or better place, getting out to work and being in control may help you feel less depressed too.
it's a wonder you havent had legal trouble. is sister on the lease? probably not. so you are probably in violation of the lease already. probably should tell the sister she needs to find her own place.

you need to get a better place; bigger. why you entitled to anything? is this welfare? if so you prolly in viloation of their rules as well.
You want a better life? Work for it like the rest of us!

I am sick and tired of paying for children that I did not create.

Grow up and take responsibility for yourself. I see you've managed to get to a computer, so you can't be a complete moron. Get a job and make your life better. Stop stealing my money to support yourself and your illegitimate children.

    .
Do you have a son? Of you do then you should get a 3 bed...if your children are one sex then not...also is your sister a minor? Under 18? If she is over 18 she wont count as a dependent....she HAS to be dependent on you to count.
You are entitled to what you pay for!?! Why would you all squish into that small place? Is it even legal to have that many people and that many kids in one place? Get a job and move!!
All children can share until 10 yrs old, it depends on the age of your sister, if she is over 18 she wouldn't count so if the kids are under 10 then 2 bedrooms is all they would allow you.
As many as you like, you and your partner can get a job work really hard and buy your own house.
How about get a job and PAY for a bigger place. Nothing worse than welfare people whining about free stuff.
I'm sorry, I must be missing something. Entitled?
Your sister could move out maybe?
    Manda,

Apparently no one ever told you that the world does not owe you a darn thing! So, here it is:

NO ONE OWES YOU A COMFORTABLE LIFESTYLE JUST BECAUSE YOU SPREAD YOUR LEGS AND HAD SOME KIDS.

I've had a job since I was eight years old. I've saved money my entire life so that I wouldn't have to steal from others to support myself.

Why should the profits of my decades of hard work, sacrifice, and savings be taken from me and given to you? Exactly how depressed do you think that makes me?

    .
Entitled? Excuse me, did you say ENTITLED???

You steal my money to pay for the choices that you have made and you think you're entitled to more because you're sad about your situation?

How about the way it should be: You live in a box under a bridge somewhere and your children are put into a foster home where intelligent people can raise them to be productive citizens instead of another generation of sponges.

What is wrong with people like you? Instead of being grateful for your FREE RIDE, you whine and cry that you need more. You want more? Do what the rest of us do and GET A JOB! Work more. Learn new skills and take on more responsibility. THAT is how you get more in this life.

I started working at age 12 with a paper route, and I haven't stopped since. I never thought that anyone owed me anything simply because I'm here. People like you disgust me. Why should I have to sacrifice my life savings in order to give you your proper comfort level?

I guess you'd like a 5000 square foot mansion with a pool as well? How about a maid so that you don't get depressed cleaning that big house?

I agree with the others. Grow up and take responsibility for your choices. You know why other people have better lives? They deserve them. You should be grateful that you have what you do. Many working people do not have so much.

    .
It sounds like the kids' clothes need to be moved to the living room with your sister. I understand that the living room is her space, but it's also probably the biggest room with the most space for those chests of drawers containing the kids' clothes. You are already so crammed together in the bedrooms that every little bit should help. I am sorry that I cannot make more suggestions for you, but it is difficult (as you know!) fitting six people and a dog into a two-bedroom house. Good luck with everything.
If you thought your property was already overcrowded, then why did your sister move in? If you are in England, the legal definition of overcrowding may be different from what you perceive to be overcrowding. The number of rooms you'll need depends on the ages of your children. The link in the source will tell you how to calculate this. If your sister was not included when you applied for a transfer, don't include her in your calculations.

If you suffer from depression, perhaps you could speak to your GP to write a letter that you can take to your council? You may be able to get reasonable preference if your housing situation is making your depression worse.
wow some irrate answers you have here! Ok, I doubt you are ';entitled'; to anything, seeing as you are probably in breach of your lease by having your sister living with you. Perhaps you could club together with your sister and get a bigger place? if not, perhaps its a case of suck it and see.

There really are worse things in the world my love, especially seeing as you've only been on the council list for 8 months. when that turns into 8 years, try posting this again, for now, be grateful you have a roof over your head. I'm sorry you've had a lot of animosity towards this question, and I completely agree with the majority of the answers, but you need to first help yourself before expecting others to.
You're depressed? I'm paying for a bunch of children that aren't mine. I didn't knock you up, so why should I have to pay for your kids? THAT is depressing!

You know what makes me feel good? Having a purpose in life besides being a leech. Maybe if you got a job and started contributing something to society instead of stealing from hard working people, you'd feel better.

Like another poster said, GROW UP! You had children, but you are still one yourself. We don't owe you a darn thing! Instead of being grateful for having a roof over your heads and food in your bellies, you cry about being cramped. Boo hoo. Many working people don't have it as nice as you do.

    .
hello, well first of all you %26amp; your husband along with children comes first for the most part. what i would do is me %26amp; my husband would sit down %26amp; talk about whats going %26amp; how can we make it better for us %26amp; the children , like taking on a second job maybe getting rid of the dog just for temporarily, until we get a bigger place at least. by me having a sisters i can understand why you let her come %26amp; stay with you maybe because she didn't have anywhere to go, or maybe she did but it was in heart to just let her come %26amp; stay regardless. but its not healthy if you suffer from depression you need to talk to someone because if you don't you can have a break down or something worse %26amp; your family don't need that especially your children.
Why are people assuming that you don't work? I don't see anything in your question about you being unemployed.

Just because someone lives in a council house, doesn't mean that they're not paying rent.

These people obviously don't have a feckin scooby what they're talking about.

I know that it's very difficult to get a council house (luckily I managed to buy a place, as the council were offering me nothing), but make sure you have medical points. If you don't, get a line from your GP, because you need all the points you can get. And, obviously points for overcrowding.

You need to keep on hassling them. Keep going to see them, or phone them, all the time. They will get sick of it, and eventually offer you something else.

The system has changed here now, don't know what it's like where you are, but here people have to actually go and apply for a house (which is advertised in the paper or online) and tell the Housing that they're interested in it. They say that it's not a points system, so I have no idea how they prioritise it. But, good luck anyway.

  • What can i do if my family & I are overcrowded in our 3 bed house?

we are top of the housing list in our area for a 4 bed house BUT we could be waiting years...its affecting the whole family...%26amp; i've been told its ILLEGAL for my boys aged 15, 7 %26amp; 1 to share a 12X12 room

please help i've been onto MP %26amp; shelter %26amp; need some more advice?

thank you so much in advanceWhat can i do if my family %26amp; I are overcrowded in our 3 bed house?
the rules have recently changed and if u have same sex children with a bigger then 6 year difference then they shouldnt be in the same room, so ur priority will change, but u say ur already at the top so keep on at the council and make sure ur kept in the loop over new properties avalible.

it is not illegal its just a guideline to follow.

are these boys ur only kids, y not have baby in with u and the other 2 can have there own room each

also i know its a big decision but have u thought about moving out the area, cos if theres only 12 properties and there all taken u may never get housed in one of them, but in the borough next to u they may have a bigger property ready to live inWhat can i do if my family %26amp; I are overcrowded in our 3 bed house?
I hope it all works out for you

    And I hope it doesn't.

I also don't see why you need 4 bedrooms. You could have the baby in with you for a couple of years until the 15-yr-old goes away to college or gets his own place. Then the two youngest boys can share a room.

I wouldn't worry too much about the legality thing - as long as the children are well looked after, it's unlikely that any action would be taken against you.
I don't care what other people think, but I am going to stick up for the questioner here.

It is ok for people who have well paid jobs and can afford to buy the houses at the current prices.

What about the people who have jobs on the lower end of the scale, like the people who push your groceries through the till every week??

Try buying a house on that kind of wage nowadays.

So you are saying that people who can't afford to buy a house, shouldn't have kids.
You need to take the initiative and move to a house of your choice. Sounds as if you live in a socialistic country where the state gives you most everything but in return you must abide by all of their many rules. Do they tell you when you can go to the bathroom too ? I hope everyone in the USA can read this and think twice about electing a socialist such as obammamamma for president. Last time I checked, in a capitalistic country, each individual has the right to choose the size and type of house he lives in. Long live Capitalism !
Aren't you the same person who came on to Y!Answers moaning that someone you know kicked your door in, as a result it wouldn't close properly and it was a danger because you have so many kids and one is autistic... But! you didn't actually pay for it to get fixed for something stupid like four years because you said the council should pay for it and then slagged off the posters who said that if you were so worried you should have fixed it yourself years ago..?

    Yes... You are... So, Hmm...

I know several people who planned their future instead of living each moment as it comes, didn't have kids they couldn't afford, got fairly well paid jobs even without a college education, bought their own houses and are living a reasonably comfortable lifestyle... Then they had kids...

It's not hard you know... You just needed to keep your legs closed or use contraception... You don't need to have your tubes tied if you make the effort not to have children.

I understand that this might sound harsh but have you ever actually tried fending for yourself and not depending on other people to bail you out all the time ?

I'm sick of people thinking that society owes them a living and I can tell you that in no way shape or form should my tax money be used to help someone who is either too stubborn or stupid to help themselves.

Report my answer and thumbs down me if you like... I rest safe in the knowledge that I speak the truth and although the truth hurts you have no-one to blame for that particular pain but yourself.
There is a 10 year gap between my eldest brother and my youngest brother. We all slept in one room whilst my sister slept in the other.

I didnt see the council rushing to rehouse us.....

....oh thats probably because mum and dad worked and brought their own house!!

I agree with the first guy, you should have thought about it first, my parents had to buy their house, and why on earth you need 4 bed rooms beats me, by the time the last one is 7 the first one will have left you, you made your bed lie in it
Spend less on unwanted luxuries and rent Private housing. Contraception, or abstinence if you are not married, are alternatives to sterilisation.

Try to convince the local council that you are from Afghanistan.
Because your children are all boys the law is slightly different than having boys and girls where they must be given separate rooms.

And I also agree with the comment that you should look closely at your circumstances before deciding to expand your family.
my grandmother is one of 12,,they managed? could you put a conservetery on the back and use that as a bedroom ,only trying to help
I know someone who has 4 boys in one bedroom and they seem to manage. You can't expect things to be handed to you on a plate I am afraid.
Write to the Ealing Council,If they can a house to an unmarried mother whose is a immigrant, they maybe able to help you.
Possibly you should have thought of this before 'expanding' your family, and not having the means to buy your own house?
hear hear, Super couldn't have put it any better and his answer mirrors my distaste for the parasites who prefer to leech off everyone else
Have you thought of housing exchange?

If you google it there are loads of schemes - here's a couple to get you started
I feel so damn sorry for you, there was 12 kids in my family and most of the time we had 3 or 4 cousins staying with us. In the summer months we moved our beds outside and battled the mosquitoes, rattlesnakes, coons and possums. Not once did my mom and dad ask people that had nothing to do with the size of our family for a bigger house. What the hell is this world coming to?

Gavmel you got it. If you can't afford a house you sure as hell can't afford kids. Why do people think they have a right to the pleasure of making babies, and then expect the taxpayer to pay for the raising of them?
It is hard living in a place that you feel is too small but at least you have a council house - you and your family have the sort of security you would never have in private rental properties! You have 3 bedrooms. Do you only have one sitting room or do you have a dining room as well. If you do, this could be turned into a bedroom.

In your situation, I would be finding a bed that could be made to look like a sofa in the living room and use that myself and then give the 15 year old and your daughter their own room, leaving the two younger boys together. Yes, it is hard but at least the two who need their own space would have it. As a mother you should know that your needs come last within the family. Having to sleep in the living room is something that many parents have to do. I don't know why you have four kids but I', going to take it for granted that your partner has either left you with the kids or there is a good reason why you are no longer together.

    |f there are only 12 suitable houses in the area and they all have families in then what is the council supposed to do? It can't just conjour up a house for you. You will have to wait until one of these houses becomes available. Your MP and Shelter can't order the council to build you a property. You will have to be patient and manage until then.

How do i write a contract/ agreement between the tennents of a three bed house?

trying to write a contract/agreement between three parties who rent a house together which would make it so they were all legally bound to pay one third of the utilities as well as general house do's and dont's, also to ensure they all are required to provide not only the landlord but all other parties of their term of notice should they choose to leave. none of the parties are owner / landlord. landlord would not be involved in the agreement. any ideas?? don't want to pay for a lawyer and i have looked for document templates but can't find anything that is really relevant. How do i write a contract/ agreement between the tennents of a three bed house?
Use the contract with your landlord as your template. It's hard to answer this, since we don't know where you are, but your lease will have all the local laws in it. If that doesn't work, call an apartment complex and ask if you can see a copy of their standard lease. Good luck!

My husband thinks I am crazy for allowing my dogs in our bed, house, etc.?

I am a DOG LOVER. My husband thinks dogs are supposed to be outside. He says NOBODY brings there dogs inside and NOBODY allows them in there bed, etc. And I am crazy for treating them like ';kids'; when they are not. Can I get some HONEST opinions out there so I can see what other people think about this? Thanks! My husband thinks I am crazy for allowing my dogs in our bed, house, etc.?
In my opinion, people who keep their dogs outdoors are crazy...they are exposed to all sorts of weather, possible injury and disease, and nearly all outdoor dogs have behavior problems (from lack of contact with their owners). ALL of my friends and family keep their pets indoors, every one of them. I can't think of a single person I know who keeps their dog outdoors. It seems your husband is probably in the minority.

EDIT: I don't know what else I could say to convince your husband that dogs really DO belong in the house. I have 2 Golden Retreivers, an English Setter and a Toy Poodle. They are all house dogs, and I wouldn't even consider having it any other way...I can't see the point of bringing a companion animal (they are pack animals, and need to be with their pack...which is your family) home, and then depriving it of companionship. Dogs really can develop serious issues from loneliness.

Here are a few websites where you may be able to find some statistics to back up your argument: http://hsus.org/ http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer http://dogsdeservebetter.com/ Hope these help!My husband thinks I am crazy for allowing my dogs in our bed, house, etc.?
My dog is inside, or outside playing with me or otherwise supervised. He does not hang out outside by himself.

He also sleeps in the bed, but any dogs with any sort of dominance, territorial or behavioral issues should sleep in crates.

I'm pretty sure most people who have dogs, WANT dogs, not living lawn decor. Therefore, I'd feel the majority of dog owners allow them inside, on the sofa, or at least the rug.
Well I agree, our city even requires they be brought in on hot and cold days if no porch or good shelter and no chains allowed. And night barkers are fined also. If you check there fet are clean and no fleas and enough room it is not a problem. But if dog if a bed hog then like my cocker he gets banned to floor. My little dach just buries self and dont even know shes there most time. BUT in respect of husband if he is uncomfortable with it then work out something else. But dog beds are very nice and easily made. Some dogs are very happy outside and adjust fine. So its a family by family thing I guess. My husband grumbels but has adjusted on most part but I am one that cleans their mess and if they get in trash, whatever. *mamatx

3,500- 4,000 is a realistic ballpark figure (White plastic fittings) by the time you add in downlighters, extractor fans, more than ';just enough'; sockets, telephone points, alarm(s), hob %26amp; oven , shower, dedicated circuits for boiler %26amp; refrigeration.

Call a local electrician or contractor. Without seeing your house, there is no way to know what will need to be done. Accessibility, length of runs, condition of the panel, etc., will all factor into the price. Could be anywhere from 拢500 to 拢2500 or more depending on the extent of the work. Hope this helps.

Have I got fleas or some kind of infestation in my bed/house?

    Hello, this sounds awful:

I woke up about a fortnight ago (after going to Thorpe Park) with nasty bites on my ankles, and symmetrically up my leg. At first I thought they were normal insect bites as we went on the hottest day of the year so far. For a couple of days after, I woke up with more bites, on my arms, and a large one on my neck. By large, I mean maybe the size of two capital letters BB, or a little larger, in square diameter. These were very itchy and nasty.

Since, I've had one or two bites (although I have been outside a lot, I notice them only when I wake up). These have been much smaller, and only little welts that weren't as itchy. I've stripped my bed, washed my bedclothes and the sleeping bag I was in the night after Thorpe Park, washed a lot of my clothes. I haven't been able to hoover because it's broken.

I haven't had any bites for a while, but I seem to be itching all the time, even when wearing clean clothes, especially when I get into bed. I've searched my bed with a small torch, I can't see anything big enough to be a bed bug. I cannot work out whether it is my imagination or not.

I'm a student, I have no animals and the only theory I've got is that I picked up something from the water rides at the theme park. It's driving me mad, though. Could anyone tell me what the likelihood is I've got some kind of infestation? If not, anything else that might cause me to itch? If so, how do I deal with it?

Sorry, quite a lot there.Have I got fleas or some kind of infestation in my bed/house?
They could be chiggers, fleas, ticks, red bugs, or recently booming numbers of bed bugs that have been reported in apartments throughout Texas and other surrounding states. I would check my bed and spray. If your head itches also it could be lice. And lice are not the bugs you want.

Your case sounds like Chiggers, I would look it up on the internet.Have I got fleas or some kind of infestation in my bed/house?
My cat has tracked in fleas a few times since I've had it. I got nasty little bites on my ankles because they got into my clothes (especially socks) and would bite me all the time. I'd suggest flea bombing your house. That always worked for me.
It sounds like a dust mite allergy. That's how I used to get. Mine also just developed for no reason. The big one on your neck probably was just a bug though. I suggest going to get allergy testing at a dermatologist.
could be hives from something you're allergic to that you came in contact with while out and about. Get some Benadryl or Claritin for allergies and see if that clears them up. If they turn into black scabs or pustules, it could be a staph infection and you'll need antibiotics. Either way, you were right in washing everything right away.
Looks like bed bugs. You have to get up in the middle of the night to search your bed, or under pillows, in the corners of pillow covers, after you have slept at least for an hour, as they come out from their hiding to begin the bites, then disappear towards the morning.

If it is really bed bugs, after you see them at night, chinese chalk will help, it is some kind of poison they sell at some chinese stores. You draw lines with those chalks all around your bed frame, and be cautious not to touch them yourself while sleeping. When bugs cross over those lines, they get poisoned and they die.

  • Will i be alowed to live in a 2 bed housing accociation house on my own?

i currently live in a large 3 bed house with my children as a single father i have bought my children up as a single parent for last few years but recently there mother has made contact and wants the children to live with her .i will no longer need a home this size so have looked for a mutal exchange i have found a family who want bigger home and mine is perfect for them .they have a small 2 bed house which id like to move into if my ex takes my children to live with her would the housing accociation allow me to live there on my ownWill i be alowed to live in a 2 bed housing accociation house on my own?
Yes as long as you don't owe them any money. They wouldn't even allow the exchange if you did. You will be helping them out by allowing a larger family to have your house....................Will i be alowed to live in a 2 bed housing accociation house on my own?
TELL THEM THAT YOU NEED AN EXTRA BEDROOM TO ACCOMODATE YOU KIDS WHEN THEY COME TO SLEEP OVER YOURS..IF THEY DON'T AGREED KEEP YOR HOME AND LIVE THERE THEY CANNOT KICK YOU OUT AS LONG AS YOU PAY YOUR RENT..GOOD MAN THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE HOPING TO GET A BIGGER HOUSE...EVERYONE SHOULD FOLLOW YOUR EXAMPLE...
I would imagine so as i would assume your children will be coming to visit therefore you would need a room for them, to stay in.
Since HOA's make up their own rules, you will have to inquire. Most are thrilled if the total number of children is reduced.
All housing associations have different rules so you would have to ask them, but quite honestly I wouldn't be too hopeful. I say this just because I know of several divorced fathers with children who come and stay who are only given one bedroom flats by our local council, and housing association rules are usually pretty similar, however I don't know if any of them pushed for a two bed. I wouldn't think they'd get it because you would then get two families with double the space. However most of the one bed flats have a separate bedroom and living room so it is technically okay for the children to stay. If they won't let you do the exchange ask what the housing associations policy is on under-occupancy, they might give you a one bedroom, but you would need to insist you got one with the two separate rooms and not a 'studio'.

Hello! does anyone out there have a 2 bed house to rent???

We are a married couple of 32 %26amp; 38. I am a carer for my wife whom is in reciept of diability living allowance.

We are looking to rent a 2 bed house in essex with a garden.

We have tried the council, dwp and numerous estate agents.

The big snag is the amount of deposit money required by the letting agents.

This is why we urgently need a landlord willing to accept a small deposit.

Payments are guarenteed via housing benefit.

We have a small well behaved westie so a garden would be greatly appreciated.

We have exhausted just about every avenue!

please help!! thank you...Hello! does anyone out there have a 2 bed house to rent???
I really wish I could help.

    But I can't =(

But, I can give you some advice, there was a similar situation on the radio I was listening to last night, go to your local citizens advice bureau, explain to them you need help to pay a deposit, once you ask for help, they cannot turn you and your wife away.

I know in my area, there is a lot of empty council houses.

Have you spoke to the council about renting out one of their houses and securing a contract for the next 5 years, or however long you want to be secured for?

I wish you and your wife the best of luck getting a place.

How do you sell a semi 3/4 bed house in rhos on sea?

hi,we have had our house on the market for a year it is in need of some modernisation.we nearly had a buyer it had gone to signing contracts when the couple pulled out to losing a job.while i can understand we are still left with the dilema.it is presently on the market for 159950 and we were going to accept a lower offer.we are now looking into renting it out but with this it occurs more costs to ourselves.we just dont know what to do.at present we have the mortgage and private rent. How do you sell a semi 3/4 bed house in rhos on sea?
This is not the best time to sell a house, and apparently house prices are going to drop for the next two years so no-one in the right mind would buy a house now unless they had to. You could rent it out and from the rent pay the mortgage and sell it in two years when the market recovers, or why dont you move into it as your renting at the minuteHow do you sell a semi 3/4 bed house in rhos on sea?
Speak to your estate agent to see if rental would be a cost-effective short term option, especially given the current cimate in the housing sales market
    I used to live there

Division of rent on a 4 bed house among 6 people (2 couples and 2 individuals). please help?

How do we divide rent and utilities?

me and my wife are sharing a 4 bed 2 bath house with 2 sisters and both their parents.

-me and my wife will be taking the master suite which is bigger than the other rooms.

-both sisters will have their own room

-the last room would be for their parents who won't be staying in the house for the whole year because the dad is usually assigned out of state for a few months at a time for work.

Should we divide the rent by square footage of the bedrroms? square footage of the house (bedrooms and shared space)? # of bedrooms? # of individuals? what else should we consider?

regarding the 4th room, what the parents of the 2 sisters are suggesting is that they keep the 4th bedroom (guests shouldn't stay in their room even if they're not around) but they pay less rent when they're not staying at the house.

Everybody pays the same amount of rent $. Now if you guys have friends %26amp; family who would like to visit %26amp; the parents are willing to loan out their room you could be nice %26amp; cut them some financial slack. But if they want sole ownership of the room, they pay a full share.

Ever rent an apartment?, go on vacation for 2 wks %26amp; only paid 1/2 the rent that Mo.?

it takes a lot of effort

but you have to go to the council everyday and complain your house is now overcrowded

eventually they'll get tired of you coming and give you what you want.

demand you see a housing list and prove that you wont get off their back, most people do, thats why they don't show any sympathy at first. But keep at it, phone up, and go in, write letters, just dont stop bugging them at all!!!We live in a 1 bed house how can we get help 2get the council to move us our son 1yr0ver and daughter 2months?
It might be a good idea to widen your search out a bit by looking at the private rental sector. You may be entitled to the new Local Housing Allowance if you are in the UK, which should be enough for you to rent a three bed property. Alternatively, have you tried the housing associations? They should be listed in Yellow Pages, and your Local Authority Housing Department should also have a list of them. My own Local Authority houses people based on 'need' and not 'housing points' as they used to, and, if yours does the same, then you have a big need because there are four of you in a one bed house. It might also be worth checking with your Local Authority whether or not you can reasonably expect your children, one of each sex, to share a room - although there may be an age for children to attain before they have to have to have separate rooms. I hate to say it, but you have to keep trying, keep pestering the people who can help you so that you keep your name to the fore.
You have not provided enough information. Are you working? Is the one bed house owned by the council? It will be more difficult to get a bigger home as many more people are in need of social housing due to the economic climate.

The first thing to do is get on the council's waiting list and then you have to keep chasing up on the progress. Sometimes you'll be on the waiting list for a long time. A friend of mine ended up taking his complaint all the way to the local government ombudsman before he and his two kids got moved from their one bed flat. You have to be patient, persistent and polite.

Be warned: your situation may not be seen as overcrowding due to the ages of your children. See http://mobile.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/鈥?/a> for more general information.

    Good luck!
My son is in the same boat. He and his wife have four kids and another one due in august ( a girl) and they live in a two bedroomed house.

They have 3 boys and a girl. The boys are aged 9,8,2 and the girl is 4. So the girl and youngest boy are sleeping in the parents room and the two boys are in the other bedroom. Girl has bad cough constantly cos of damp.

They have to bid on a house if any available on the website, and if any suitable they are given to the ones who have been on list longest.

Nothing is fair in this country. Makes me mad at times.

Keep pushing your council and Good luck to yous.
Go to your local MP he or she will write a letter for you in support of your move which does hold alot of weight. afterall thats just where Citizens Advice will suggest you go. So go straight to them, might as well get them doing a job for your vote and tax money.

Council housin is notorious I been waiting for years, I have mental health issues but not illness and I have Arthritis they say im on the bottom of the list and they are not obliged to house me although I am now facing homelessness they say hostle or nothing although medical letters to them says put me in a hostle or shelter and I will commit suicide council say homless then. The list deems these groups of people number 1 priority: Drug addicts (including drunkards), pregnant teenage girls, homosexuals and ex-offenders or those newly released. Second priority to them is the homeless who been it for months or years and Newly granted Asylum Seekers (legal ones only) then the rest of us have to wait an undetermined length of time.

Councils never help until someone more powerful than them challenges them legally or forces them to do what they are meant. The law protects the good and says what councils can and cant do but 90% of council chiefs ignore these laws and make their own criteria up. Housing Associations are the worst doe, I live in one right now pay full rent and council tax yet cos my mother wants to move im being made homeless, they will not let me be put on a tenancy cos inm her son even though im (23 turning 24), they make their own policies up and say it is more important than the law, they called me up angry cos my psychiatrist wrote a letter of support backing me and they said they will never give me a tenancy or house me unless a judge forces them to.

    Earwigs in my bed/house?

Ugggh. I finished painting my room a few weeks ago. I didn't say in it for a few days because I had company, but when i came back to it I had things set on my bed and there was an earwig under them. Lately I've seen a lot of earwigs around my house. Now, just a minute ago, I was sitting on my bed and a damn earwig crawled up next to me. I have been deathly afraid of bugs my entire life and now I am really bothered. I'm afraid they're in my blankets now and I don't know where to sleep...

Anyways. Obviously there are holes in my house somewhere that I need to patch up. I only know of one, which is under my back door, and it's big, but I don't imagine all the bugs are getting in there. Where are some places to look for holes? I can't handle earwigs in my house, let alone my bed anymore.Earwigs in my bed/house?
even if u patch the holes, they'll still be lurking around... unfortunately, u need to call a pest control company so they can kill the lil buggers.Earwigs in my bed/house?
i had a chuckle reading this one. bugs are all over the place, exterminate ? no, control ? yes. they were more than likely living in and around your walls before painting, now you have chased them away from their homes so they are looking for new ones. basements and crawl spaces are good breeding grounds for these pests, so start there and chase the majority from your home. fumigation works well. good luck.
do you live in arizona? because i do and i have tons in my house too. they seem to go closer to lights, so i'd keep lamps away from the bed?
They're not that bad - I don't think they bite.

You should fumigate your place - works well.

I would be more concerned about bed bugs - they bite many times in one place and can leave scars!
LMFAO, I had a 3 inch black spider roaming my bedroom, so I sleep in the livingroom coach now.
im sorry. you should sleep on the couch for a while until you figure out how they're coming in. call an exterminator
didnt you get an inspector if not call one now

Puppy peeing on bed / House Breaking?

Two days ago, I got an 8 week old female Shih Tzu puppy. I've got alot of dogs before, but this is my first time raising a puppy. I'm having some house breaking issues with her. First of all, shes peeing all over my bed %26amp; pillows. Why is she doing this? She pees on her puppy pads, but then will also pee on the bed :S! At night shes slept with me for hours %26amp; wined to go to the puppy pad %26amp; does well... so I don't understand why shes peeing on my bed. Also, shes very small %26amp; right now its extremely cold outside... I'm scared of taking her out there too long, cuz she sits there %26amp; freezes, shaking %26amp; shivering. I bought her a coat, but its not helping much. I'm afraid its going to interfere with her house breaking if I don't keep her out there until she goes... but I don't want her to get sick from the cold. I seem to be doing well training her in everything else. Already shes picking up on commands... I'd just like alittle advice on house breaking. One last thing... I want to crate train her, but is this cruel? %26amp; will she be less close to me, if I don't let her sleep with me at night?

Sorry its so long, I just really need the puppy advice :P!

Thank you in advance!Puppy peeing on bed / House Breaking?
Two days is not enough time for her to learn where you want her to pee. Housebreaking a puppy is usually a very long and painstaking process. If she is peeing in the pads that might make her understanding of the entire process a lot more difficult. You want to teach her not to eliminate anywhere inside the house from as early as possible. Unless you are at work most of the day, I would advise against using the pads.

I don't know if she's having any poop issues or if the only problem is peeing in the bed. In any case, you want to put her in a strict feeding schedule to make your bathroom breaks easier to predict. Definitely use the crate. It is a wonderful training tool and it is not cruel at all, unless you use it as punishment or for confining the dog for long periods of time.

Please read this article from the Humane Society's website about housebreaking: http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/our_pe鈥?/a>

And by the way, the puppy should not sleep in the bed with you until she is: a) fully housebroken, b) about 1 year old. She will bond with you because you are the one who feeds her, walks her, plays with her, etc. You don't need to sleep with her for bonding. Dogs will pee whenever their bladders are full, especially if they are in a porous surface. Now that she's peed there, she is several times more likely to do it again because she had the behavior reinforced (it feels good to pee when you have a full bladder) and because she can smell the faint odor of urine left in the bed. Get your bed and sheets fully cleaned with a special enzyme that will eliminate the smell. Get her to sleep on a crate next to your bed. And definitely take her out to pee/poop at regular schedules.

I know it's cold, but she'll be fine. When you take her out to the ';toilet'; always pick a spot close to the door and do not take her for a walk or play with her. She'll learn the difference between going to to eliminate and going out to play. Take her out of the crate in the morning, make her wear the coat, leash her, and take her to ';the spot'; and just wait. No talking, no playing, nothing. Just wait for 5 to 10 minutes. If she pees/poops, praise her and give her a tasty treat that is very special, something different from what she has normally. If she does not eliminate, take her inside and put her on the crate for 15 to 20 minutes. Take her out again and repeat the process until she finally goes to the bathroom.

The key is to prevent accidents in the house because each new accident increases the likelihood she will do it again. If you are 100% consistent with the program, she will catch up soon. If you are only mostly consistent, be prepared for months of this nightmare.

Good luck!Puppy peeing on bed / House Breaking?
i have been breeding shihtzus for a number of years now and they are the most loving cuddling creatures you will ever meet. i wouldn't trade my shihtzus for anything! firstly you shouldn't be letting her sleep on your bed- not just yet anyway. my dogs sleep at the foot of the bed but they are not puppies and can hold their bladders all night. your puppy is still very young and needs to first understand where she can and can't go pee. crate training is wonderul. it is not cruel. the crate can be her bed and only her bed. your puppy should soon be able to hold her bladder for longer periods of time. after her dinner meal don't feed her again. take the food bowl away but leave the water bowl just a little bit longer. if you let her drink before bedtime of course she is going to have to relief herself. when she does go in an inappropriate place - don't yell at her but use a firm voice and tell her one or two words that she can easily pick up on.

House prices are falling, especially in the north, so a landlord will be happy to secure you now as a tenant. It is a good time to be looking for a house, have you asked the council for help ? Are they helpful?? I hope you will find a nice place to live very soon ;)

Old back boiler replaced with combi boiler + seven new radaitors in 2 bed house. Average cost? Ta?

This applies to any trade you are wanting. Try web site called checkatrade, typed into any search engine will bring it up. Then type in your post code, so you get the ones local to you. All the people on here have been vetted, checked out for certificates, right qualifications and insurance etc and open to further monitoring. On the web site you can read other customer comments etc and the ratings of the companies. Checkatrade collect all their customer reports themselves and the companies do not see them.

So this is about as near as you'll get to avoiding the cowboys.

Still get a couple round for quotes though.

Have used the site often and always been happy with the people selected.Old back boiler replaced with combi boiler + seven new radaitors in 2 bed house. Average cost? Ta?
You would not pay any tax on 拢2000 ';taxedtilldie'; the materials would cost that.拢4000 is nearer the mark.Old back boiler replaced with combi boiler + seven new radaitors in 2 bed house. Average cost? Ta?
3-3500 pounds depending on make of boiler, type of rads, thermostatic rad valves or not.

You move the furniture and lift carpets to give the installers a straight run at the work

  • Uk. how much is the average electricity bill and gas bill for a two bed house? its just 2 people living in it.

does anyone know how much a unit of gas costs? like when the meter goes round 1 plce how much is that? more a lessUk. how much is the average electricity bill and gas bill for a two bed house? its just 2 people living in it.
well, i have no idea what the average is but i can give you MY average, this is in Connecticut so may be high for other parts of the country.

(we're two people, two bedroom apartment)

Gas is for heat and hot water. In the winter it can go up to $350.00!! and in the summer (when it's just water) it'll run $150.00

Electricity has skyrocketed in the last couple years, it used to be a very nominal bill but now it's $80.00 in the ';non a/c'; months and $200 + in the summer when both air conditioners are blasting.Uk. how much is the average electricity bill and gas bill for a two bed house? its just 2 people living in it.
Your bill will have the unit price of gas on it. There are building simulators that can estimate electric and gas bills, based on prices, house construction, wall area, climate, etc.

    I totally agree with iposhrat!

If you owed thousands in rent arrears, they still have an obligation to deal with infestations. Have a look through your tenancy agreement and if you don't have one, ask for a copy at the offices. Surprising what their obligations are to you......DON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!!

If you have 4 kids, why are you in a 2 bedroom house? Serious question.Me %26amp; 4 kids live in a 2 bed house. i got ants everywhere what do i do ive tried evrything.?
Threaten to sue the council as your kids are having nightmares. This is disrupting their school work and making life unbearable as they are also refusing to eat food because of the ants.

Not really but they don't have to know that.

They will then sort the problem out.

If they don't go to the papers.

Get some dead cockroaches from a pet shop just to add extra weight.

拢100 rent arrears. They are taken the pith. The council are just controlling bar stewards.

They are OUR servants get them to do their job.

    Name them.
find the nest and use lots of boiling water this kills the eggs also you can get this gel from diy stores that ants love but its deadly to them hahaha make sure there are not lots of crumbs or sweet things lying around for ants to feed on.
the way to kill ants is with bleach or charcoal fluid but i dont think u wanna put the lighter fluid in your house so use bleach to wipe down where they are at and then pinesol afterwards to get rid of the smell!!! good luck..
Buy an aerosol can of fly killer and find the trail they are coming in. Spray as much of the trail as you can follow
contact your landlord and if he doesn't do anything you are going to have to call a professional [most store bought products don't work] its going to cost a lot but thats the only way.
If you are working, go to a store and buy a indoor pesticide for ants, spray it on all the baseboards, behind the toilet, clean out under the counters and empty out the food cubards, spray inside them, around the sink pipes, ants love water, even if you haven't seen an ant in a room spray around the floor. While you are spraying though please make sure someone is watching the children they cannot be around it for at least an hour. Pets too if you have any.
bitten? some produce an irritant, at least the domestic uk species do, so where are you?

if it's a non domestic species the government dept responsible will want to hear. look at http://www.defra.gov.uk/pests and have a butchers ;)
Put the kids by the door and they will bite

    the kid and not you
Not sure if you have this product over there but try using Castle Soap. Read the instructions on the bottle. You mix it with water and pour it around the outside of the house. They don't like to cross it.

Also, you can try bleach water too.

Make sure your house isn't damp anywhere because if they are carpenter ants, that is their food.

You didn't say what kind of ants but if they are red ants, you have to kill the nest by pouring bleach water into it but only after you treated around your houses edge so they don't move in.

    Good Luck!
Have you tried bleach? It's the only thing that worked for me. Tried exterminators, etc... they just moved to another location. Bleach seems to keep them out for good.
Get your local council to remove the ants, they will do that if you have young children, you can also contact environmental health who will force the council to tackle the problem but I think the council will do it once you mention calling in environmental health, the number will be in your local phone book
Go to a hardware store or walmart and ask for a white powder called Borax. Spread the borax around near the back of cabinets and around the floor boards at the base of the walls. Under the refrigerator and stove. Just leave it there for a month or so and see if your ants disappear. It worked for me.
I have had an ant problem too and I called an exterminator. He told me he wouldn't want to spray because I had two young children. What he did tell me to do is use ordinary dish soap - try to find where they are coming in and put a barrier of dish soap around - they can't get past it and if they get caught in it they drown. Good luck ~
    call the exterminator
Write a recipe book '101 tasty ant dishes for the family'. Eating these insects will not only save you money ordinarily spent on food and reduce the number of bites you and your children recieve, but the royalties could enable you to buy your own ant free home too.
It's only ants, there so many very effective ant killer sprays you can buy, they're very cheap and it does work I can tell you, keeps them away for weeks once sprayed around the 'affected areas' of the house!!
i know this may sound wierd but a old remedy was to use red cayenne pepper and the ants will not come into the house.. you need to kind of know where they are coming in at and put the pepper all around the areas...you have tried ant spray and have you talked to a exterminater??? hope this helps
i have a solution and this may already be an answer but get you some boric acid powder, i use that in my home and we are bug free knock on wood
Have you sprayed the foundation on the outside of the house? Also, you can try cucumber peels (believe it or not) and coffee grounds. Both discourage ants. Additionally, because you have such an issue, I would place ant cup strategically (under the fridge, near ANY source of water, etc.) Good luck!
tell your landlord to do something or move out!
Pesticides tend to be dangerous. Boric acid works. Follow their trail and hit their source.Try extra clean habits, no garbage, dirty dishes and such. Put shelved foods in sealed glass containers Good luck. I believe you will be sucessful.
For a start you must have food around on floors/surfaces. Ants come in your house for that reason only. I'm not saying you're not hygenic but give the house a good clean down and hoover everyday especially with four kids dropping crumbs on the floor etc. Give your cupboards a wipe down inside too as any sugar/food deposits will attract them too. By the way if you're in arrears with your rent how can you afford a computer and run the internet?! Oops there I go again...
The only thing I've tried that really works is Nippon liquid, especially if you add a drop of cola. They go nuts for it, then after a couple of days they're gone. But you have to keep using it because more show up as they hatch out. The active ingrediant is Borax, which you can get from some shops to act as a flame retardent in fabrics, so I guess you can make own, just add sugar and cola.

I read someone elses suggestion that biological washing powder also works. Put it where they walk.

Another thing they don't like is ground cloves and orange oil, stuff some down the holes where they come out.

Ants get around by following scent trails so washing the floor and surfaces with something like Dettox fridge cleaner annoys them.

If you can find the nests outside the house pour boiling water over them.

Remember to keep poisons away from the kids and tell them not to taste them. You just have to keep at it, mine come back year after year, but they haven't been so bad this year so maybe I'm getting somewhere.
There is food on the floor somewhere in your house, take room by room everything out, and clean the floors!! If that doesn't help get your rent up to date and get moved.
EASY try to find the holes where they are coming from .Then put some flour at the front of the holes and provide water aswell when they eat the flour the will be looking for water after drinking water the flour will become wet and when it dry it will remain in the stomoch so they wont come out from the holes cuz ants come out only when they are hungry
    Eat out.
With it being summer and hot out. There just trying to find a temp. place till summer is over. Don't need to worry. But if there really bad, get some RAID BUG SPRAY.
Sprinkle talcum powder where the ants are coming in - it will stop them!
buy ant traps from a diy shop and sprinkle salt, ants usually go were there is food, check there is no open packets of food lying around, they usually take food back to there nests,i had the problem and now they are gone
There is something caller terro. It is in a small bottle and you can buy it at walmart. Place a few drops on pieces of cardboard or wax paper. The ants eat it and take it back ';home';. After a day or two they will be gone... and the bottle lasts a really long time!

Google 'entitledto'. It is a really good website which allows you to enter your details (age, wages, rent etc) and then tells you exactly what you are entitled to; tax credits, housing benefit, council tax benefit etc. I know that tax credits are usually only for people aged 25 or over, I don't know if it is different if you are married. Look on that website and it will tell you everything.
No, you have to be over 25 to receive working tax credits if you don't have children. But you might be able to claim housing benefit and council tax benefit, to help. You'd only get enough hosuing benefit to cover a 1 bedroom place though, so it wouldn't be more then a 1/4 of your rent is now but it's better then nothing!
i am not sure of the limit you can earn when u are married but if you go to www.hmrc.gov.uk and have a look on that site it will be able to help

or you could always call them, if you are not entitled to anything then you are not losing anything by doing so
if you dont have kids then no.

Looking to rent a 3 or 4 bed house in south UK - I expect rent to be about 拢1,000 but I've no idea what over monthly costs might roughly be for gas, water, phone etc....etc.....Renting a 3/4 bed house - total monthly costs, approximately?
Im single and these are currently my bills = average (remember this is mine and can be different to yours/area):

Council Tax - 拢70 (I get 25% discount living alone)

As a rough guide it is best to reserve 40% for bills, if this is too much just adjust it as you go along. Remember you've got water, council tax, electric, gas and telephone charges.

New neighbours are renting rooms , is there a limit to how many people aloud in a 4 bed house?

    Hi there

There are definitely rules, one of the key ones is laid down in legislation and refers to ';Homes under Multiple Occupancy'; (or HMO for short). More details can be found a www.opdm.gov.uk, search for HMO.

In brief if they have more than 5 occupants from more than one family they need to have a HMO licence. If not then they may be breaking the law ... but please check the site I mention for precise details - there is a simply Q%26amp;A flow chart to follow that gives you an answer for a particular situation.

I hope this helpsNew neighbours are renting rooms , is there a limit to how many people aloud in a 4 bed house?
That would be up to local code enforcement. What if the neighbor had 8 kids, would that make a difference?New neighbours are renting rooms , is there a limit to how many people aloud in a 4 bed house?
    there is in my city
    1000 asylum seekers
yes, call your city codes office
there is some kind of rule but it is never but into action and also bare in mind that the front room or lounge can also be classed as a sleeping room or bedroom so you can have a lot of people in a four bedroom house
Well remember how many golliwogs you could get on a jam jar ? count how many of those jars can you get in a bloody house, its simple maths really they ruin every thing.Only we lost the one of the jam jar,He sued Robertson's for putting up the rent !
there are always codes set to limit how many people can live in a house per sq foot or per bedroom etc.
No, nor do their neighbours do have to be able to spell.
The only time a limit comes in is when there are children or teenagers involved in the said room.

young boys and young girls, young girls and teenage boys, teenage boys and young girls mother and son or daughter, father and son or daughter cannot share a room past the age of 4 or 5.

and 2 teenagers of the opposite sex cannot share either.

It doesn't matter if all of these people are family someone can b=get into big trouble.

and I'm sure that there is something about a fire hazard too!!
It's usually limited to 2 people per bedroom.
your neighbours sub letting?does the landlord agree or is it their own pad?multi occupancy has by law to be notified to local council..if he is renting out rooms there are laws regarding health+safety...has the house a hard wired smoke alarm system(legal requirement..)that's to say its wired to the mains not on battery power...fire exts,..and gas and electrical safety certificates are required.. fire exits...insurances..etc..etc.etc..the list goes on and on...
I don't know but I would think there is a limit. Ask your local council office ,they will know
Not for 4 bed. Once you get 5 bed there are regs on how many bathrooms and exits you have to have etc. Unless they are endangering themselves or other people or creating pollution (noise, litter etc) there's not much you can do. That is as long as they're all paying their rates/council tax too!!!
At one time there was a sensible limit , now it seems ';Unlimited'; even the beds are occupied on a ';Shift'; basis , but there, there, we don,t want to offend anyone do we ? after all it,s only our country , who are we to make the rules = Pile Em. in Pay up , Shut up, Give em. everything they ask for and Put up with it.
Where do you live - it varies by community. In Chicago, it's regulated to two people per bedroom. So 9 people technically can't live in a four bedroom house.
It depends on the local bylaws. (allowed...not aloud)
my 3 bedroom rented house has limmit of 11 people
yes but they differ 6- 10 for normal people 854 for Asians.
Does your neighbor rent or own. If they own No If they are renting there could be.
How many families is the neighbor's house zoned for? Chances are that your neighbor's house is only zoned for single family occupancy which would mean that the neighbor cannot rent out any rooms.

Need a new combi boiler for a 3 bed house can you tell me on average how much i am looking to pay?

if you look around you should get one fitted for around 拢2,000. if you already have a combi fitted %26amp; are looking for a replacement then the cost should be lower by around 30%Need a new combi boiler for a 3 bed house can you tell me on average how much i am looking to pay?
拢750 for the boiler + labour for fitting.Need a new combi boiler for a 3 bed house can you tell me on average how much i am looking to pay?
If you know what you're doing you can fit it your self and get a corgi fitter to commission it
a decent condensing combi boiler can cost around 拢800 + labour.
I've just been quoted one for 拢600, or for a better one 拢800 plus new taps on my radiators, total cost 拢1000, for the lower cost 1, %26amp; 拢1400, for the dearer one.
Between 拢550 to 拢800 for the boiler plus labour which would be between 拢450 - 拢1200 (British Gas)

    In a medium size 3 bed house,would it cost much more to run a 31.0kw 105,800btu boiler than a 23.0kw 78,500one?

I am considering getting a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 831 Condensing Combi BoilerIn a medium size 3 bed house, would it cost much more to run a 31.0kw 105,800btu boiler than a 23.0kw 78,500one?
not really you might even find it costs less, because of the size of the heat output it will heat more water quicker and therefore turn off sooner, plus unless you are adding more radiators they will reachTemperature sooner

    This is a good city

My neice is renting my Dads 3 bed house. She is paying 拢300 pcm. There is no agreement. Should I get one?. ?

This was to be a short term solution. Originally this rent was all she could afford. She has now received a settlement. Her boyriend is staying with her. she has daughter age 5. My neice is renting my Dads 3 bed house. She is paying 拢300 pcm. There is no agreement. Should I get one?. ?
I know it is just temting to leave it as it is family, but I would def put something in place. If you google short hold assured tenancy Im sure you can find a blank form.

Depending on the size of the house and the location that seems very cheap! My neice is renting my Dads 3 bed house. She is paying 拢300 pcm. There is no agreement. Should I get one?. ?
Hi the fact that she is paying rent, and your father is accepting it, is grounds for a AST, it does not have to be in a written form, as long as she has proof she pays rent and you father can proof he receives it then you are covered.

But if her boyfriend has moved in the he needs to be on an agreement, so it would be good to put then on an ast, covers you both. And if he is there as rent increase wouldn't go a miss, 拢300 is less that the government asses a room for a single person should cost.

Shelter is a good site, will let you know what to do.
It would hurt to have something binding her to an agreement. But it is up to the owner of the house. If it were me yes, what if she decides to stay longer? More than three months? or doesn't pay up? or something happens to the house (damage caused by renter), who pays for it then? i would just have something to protect yourself. it will hold up more in court if you have a agreement than nothing at all! Just draw up a document and have two people non related sign as witness and your good! Good luck
Most definitely. Where money is involved, whatever the reason. Some strange things can happen even when family are concerned
I would get a agreement/contract in place, family or no family.
Shouldn't it be up to your Dad to decide whether he wants her to sign an agreement or not?
