get a timeclock and room thermostat and set this for when your actually home if your heating the house then heat your water find a local company from the corgi page in yellow pages Or if you can afford to have to system uprated to a fully controlled combi system it will get hotter quicker and wont need to be on as long thermostatic radiator valves and no hot water cylinder or if things are tight invest in some thermal wear all the best from HND plumbing and heating North Wales 07824339670How could i keep my 3 bed house warm without a whooping gas or electricity bill? please help me?
Sun light warms your home.If you have ceiling fans, use them.I would set a small fan behind your heating unit to blow the air further from the source.Make sure there aren't any cracks letting air in..hope this helps.
Look into a wood stove or pellot stove
First you need to get something newer than a boiler. That antique is probably killing your budget. Geothermal is the way to go if you can afford the upfront cost. My heat-pump is getting old, and when it is time to go, that is what I will be going with. Since it is energy efficient, it has an Energy-star rating from the US Government, and you can re-coop some of the cost of purchase on your income taxes. Do a search on energy star for more info!
The 2 cheapest and first things to do would be to open window shades in your sunny rrooms in the morning and close all window coverings in the evening. Also try applying interior window shrink wrap plastic which can be found at your local hardware store.
Plastic, plastic, plastic. Go to any Home Depot or Lowes and get winterizing plastic. It works great and keeps the drafts out/warmth in. I know a lot of people who put it up every year!!!
